Condolences

Condolence From: Gene R. Pesola, MD
Condolence: Just found out today through one of our fellows that Vlad had passed. Was with him when we went to Armenia for the Armenian earthquake (1988) as a Critical Care Attending many years ago. Vlad was complex, a bit difficult, and sometime rough and gruff. However, he was interested in world-wide critical care, was a very "human" being who could be very supportive, reasonable, and understanding (once one got to know him). He will be sorely missed by the Critical Care world I am sure, and was to me a giant in critical care (a tireless worker) and someone who all would miss if they knew him well. RIP

Condolence: Such a sad sad news . He was my mentor and the person who lit the light in me on the outstanding benefits and possibilities of Critical Care. A leader, administrator and most importantly a man with a caring compassionate heart for the critically ill who left no stone unturned to save a life. Vlad you will be misssd . Precious in the sight of The Lord is the death of one of His Saints

Condolence: Dr. Kvetan was a great clinician, he was compassionate and kind. He always valued the nurse's input during patient care rounds. I had the privilege of working in his MICU unit for 20+ years. He will be more than missed. My condolences to his family. RIP.

Condolence: Vlad was one of my 1st two ICU mentors. He was one of a kind. I still quote some of his "lines" and his use of the English language was truly unique and entertaining. No matter how long the time passed between conversations or e-mails, I always felt like we had just been together the day before. I will miss him forever.

Condolence: Tribute to a man who was a force for healing and compassion. Human? Yes. Complex? Definitely! But someone who cared deeply for what he did and forged his own path to accomplish those goals. Medicine has lost a fine, caring leader.

“Once for each thing. Just once; no more. And we too,
just once. And never again. But to have been
this once, completely, even if only once:
to have been at one with the earth, seems beyond undoing.”
- Rilke
